Untitled trailer piece for San Diego (That's a top heavy boat there)

2012

Informed by the trucks and trailers often travelling south on San Diego’s highways filled far beyond their capacity with second-hand American furniture and appliances headed for the border for resale I emulated this process by building an art object through the gathering of furniture and mattresses abandoned on the street. The process began with a loading partner (collaborator) and an empty flatbed trailer pulled by my pick-up truck traversing the streets and alleys in search of furniture. As objects were added to the trailer the objects already on the trailer were shifted creating a new form with every pick-up.
